Quiz : Grades K to 6
a) Four participant categories are identified, and that is based on participants’ age/grade at school.
b) Judges’ decision is final.
c) Two prizes are announced per category; this is dependent on the number of participants in the category.
d) All participants will be recognized on the stage.
e) Depending on the number of participants in the age category, a written multiple-choice quiz will be held, and this is considered the first round.
f) A minimum of 4 participants is required to conduct an oral quiz and decide the winner(s).
g) If the number of participants in a group is less than 4, the participants are allowed to take the written quiz and are awarded a participation award. They don’t get to participate in the oral quiz.
h) A participant can decide to move to a higher category, and this representation should be made before the start of the event.
i) On stage, for the oral quiz, each participant gets 3 questions. For every correct answer, the participant gets 2 points.
j) The participant who gets the question is allowed to make one guess. No points are lost for making an incorrect guess.
k) Once the question remains unanswered, other participants on stage can volunteer to answer the question. First, the volunteer should make a representation that he is interested in answering the question. Once all volunteers are identified, the judges decide on the order.
l) Every participant who volunteers to answer the question will get one chance/guess. For a correct answer, the volunteer (participant) gets 1 point, and for every incorrect answer, the volunteer loses one point.
m) Judges will make a fair attempt in allocating the questions to on-stage volunteer participants.
a) Participating students are grouped based on age/school grade.
b) Every participating student is given 4 minutes to present.
c) A 30-second grace period follows the allotted 4 minutes.
d) Any time taken beyond 4:30 impacts participants’ final score.
e) Judges’ decision is final.
f) Judges can question the participant about anything related to the presentation.
g) Participants are not allowed to question the judges about anything related to their presentation or the presentation from other participants.
h) Participants will be judged based on the following criteria:
Content space and validity – 40%
Presentation Skills – 10%
Presentation flow – 10%
Clarity of presentation material – 20%
Confidence – 10%
Impact on spreading values – 10%
i) Participants can use either PowerPoint slides or a tri-fold board to present competition material.
j) The presentation mode, whether PPT slides or a trifold board, does not make any difference during evaluation; the presentation content matters.
k) Event organizers are responsible for providing a computer, projector, and display screen.
l) Participants are expected to bring the PPT slides on a USB drive.
m) Judges decide, at the start of the event, the sequence in which the competing students are expected to present. Participants are requested to cooperate.
n) Grades 7/8/9 belong to one category; Grade 10/11/12 belong to the second category. Judges at the start of the event can make a decision to change this grouping based on the number of students participating.
o) Every participating student will be recognized on the stage.
